Profile

Vanessa Costa is a singer-songwriter of Brazilian popular music born in Campinas, São Paulo (Brazil). At the age of 15, she began her artistic career by singing onstage throughout Brazil exploring the repertoire of “forró”, the popular genre originally from Brazil’s Northeast.

She decided to pursue music as a profession and began to study voice at ULM (São Paulo) where she met the great accordion player, Oswaldinho do Acordeon, which led to a four year partnership.  After performing all over Brazil and meeting great musicians, she, along with four others, created the “Clube de Samba SAUDOSA CLOTILDE do Brasil”.  As if it were meant to be, it was through Saudosa Clotilde that Vanessa learned, developed and lived samba. Performing in major venues throughout São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Vanessa captivates her audience with her voice and charm.

In 2012, Vanessa dedicated her shows to the music of Carmen Miranda. Currently, she is preparing an album of new songs influenced by the roots and miscegenation of Brazilian music.
